Knights of Columbus

Knights of Columbus – Our Lady of Perpetual Help

Vocations Awareness Scholarship Application

Application Deadline: March 20, 2026

The K of C is an organization built on the principals of Charity, Unity and Fraternity. The saying “Charity begins at home” is the basis of this scholarship. Charity is much more than monetary stipends. Charity begins inside you and is manifested through service and acts of kindness. The Knights of Columbus teach that “Vocations are born in the home and are nurtured by loving and pious families.” We are facing a critical shortage of priests and religious vocations and we need to draw awareness to religious vocations.

The K of C will award at least 1 (one) $500 scholarship to a graduating high school senior (regardless of what high school they attend), that is a parishioner at Our Lady of Perpetual Help and demonstrates their willingness to use their time and talents to benefit the community and prayerfully promote vocations.

Eligibility:

  • High School Senior
  • Member at Our Lady of Perpetual Help
  • Living as a practicing Catholic
  • Plans to continue education at an accredited college/university or technical/trade school
  • Active in serving the community
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA

Our Lady Vocation Awareness Senior Application

The Knights of Columbus Council #14186 is a fraternal organization here at Our Lady, established in 2006. Some of the charitable activities sponsored by our K of C are bimonthly pancake breakfasts, kettle corn at various parish and community events, and an annual “Food for the Holidays” Golf Outing fundraiser. They also co-sponsor events with other parish committees such as The Our Lady Feast Day, the Fall Fest and a Scout Clambake fundraiser. In addition, they sponsor the Religious Education annual subscription to the Diocesan Media Library and other projects of the Religious Education Department.

Since its 1882 inception by Father Michael J. McGivney in New Haven, Connetticut, charity has been the first principle of the Knights of Columbus. In 2016, Knights worldwide donated over 75 million volunteer hours and more than $177 million to countless causes. Interested in finding more out about the Knights at Our Lady or want to join us?
